The Mighty Hand of God 2

Last week, we examined the ministry of Ezra the Priest and Nehemiah the reformer. These two men were not only the poster boys to the faithfulness of God but also the effects of a life under the GOOD HAND OF GOD!

It’s going to take a revolution (power) to turn a generation around

It’s going to take a revolution (power of God) to change the status quo.

Things don’t just change…it would take a change agent to effect the change!

Isaiah 27:

27 And it shall come to pass in that day (a day appointed), that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing (the power).

Every day is just the same as other days until the power of God swoops in…May the power of God swoops in today!

What made that Day of Atonement special was not the celebration (they did that every year) but the incoming of the HAND of God (the Holy Spirit). People came from all over the region for the religious celebration but God had a different idea- He chose to release His Hands on ordinary men and did extra ordinary things through them!

What happens when the hand of God comes upon you?

  1. The hand of the Lord is mighty: 1 Peter 5:6-7urges us to: Humble yourselves therefore under THE MIGHTY HAND OF GOD, that he may exalt you in due time: 7. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

The MIGHTY hand of God brings exaltation. When the hand of God alights, it lifts. The anointing lifts. The power of God lifts! I don’t know how long you’ve been kept down, when the hand of God touches you, every chain breaks!

  1. The hand of the Lord empowers: *For example, in 1 Kings 18:44-46, the Hand of the Lord gave Elijah the strength to run before Ahab’s chariot a distance from 16 to 20 miles!

When the Lord’s hand is upon a man, he would accelerate beyond his own ability. As believers, just come under the influence of His hands and your pace will surprise you!

  1. The hand of the Lord is dangerous and deadly to His enemies:

*The very first time we see this “Hand of the Lord” phrase in God’s Word, it’s in connection with the judgment God was going to pour out on Egypt. Exodus 9:1-4

*The Hand of the Lord is dangerous and deadly to His enemies. 1 Samuel 5:1-7 tells us that.
