Be Thankful

Romans 9:[14] What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. [15] For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. [16] So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. [17] For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. [18] Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

  1. We have countless reasons to be grateful to God. (Oh for a thousand tongue to sing , my great redeemer’s praise)

We have been purchased by the precious blood of Jesus. We have been chosen from the foundation of the world; embraced by His love and surrounded by His goodness. We have also been sustained by His word/truth.

Therefore, we must be thankful. To be thankful should not just be an attitude; it is far more than an attitude…

  1. To be thankful, we must be thoughtful…no complain or grumbling on why things did not work out as we planned… In fact, be thankful certain things did not work out!

Paul in Romans 8:28   And we know that all things work together for good to them that love

To be thoughtful, you must be able to reflect: Where I am and where I was? The gap in between those two would drive us to the place of thankfulness…

  1. This is the other side of being thankful, it emboldens you to stand in faith for greater things…

Why did God, at every major intervention and victory, told the Israelite to set up a memorial stone?

  • To remember how far He’s brought them
  • To educate the younger and the unborn generation about His election and determination to deliver when necessary.
  • To stir up greater faith for the impossible…

New level of accomplishment was built on previous victories!

When we are thankful, we are building a memorial…for greater dimension of His intervention.
